Course summary

This Business Management and Economics degree is designed specifically to develop you as a ‘business ready’ graduate: a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of business and management and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly. It will prepare you for a career in business or in any organisation that values an awareness of economic issues. Our extended four year degree includes a foundation year, which provides students with a sound introduction to key elements needed for studying Business at degree level. The foundation year is carefully designed to build your confidence and abilities, develop essential academic and study skills, and provide the subject specific knowledge essential for success. You will gain in-depth knowledge of organisations and their environments, including their relationships to society. In your second and third year you will focus on learning key theories and concepts in economics and their application in international businesses. You will also gain an understanding of managing people, business operations and logistics, marketing and communications, corporate strategy and business ethics. You will learn how businesses can operate effectively in a multicultural environment. In readiness for your future career, you will develop a range of skills that employers value: the ability to identify and solve business problems and to effectively communicate your ideas. You will develop key attributes such as commercial acumen, self-reflection and emotional intelligence and gain skills in research, numeracy and project and people management. Taught on our south-west London campus, on this degree you will have access to many opportunities for work experience through our Careers Team, and access to face-to-face and 24/7 online careers support, whether you choose to live on campus or commute to us. This course offers all students the option of a one-year paid work placement, to boost your employability even further. If you choose this route, you will take the placement following year two of your course, and then return to complete your degree. A placement year is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience, to build on the career skills we will teach you on this degree. The connections you make on the placement will improve your career prospects further, and equip you with the skills you need to secure graduate-level employment. Key features:
