Course summary

This degree in biomedical science explores human health and disease. We focus on the mechanisms of disease, diagnostic pathways and therapeutic intervention. Our diverse biomedical science degree focuses on many areas of medical and biosciences. It is taught by experienced academics in areas including cell biology, cancer biology, microbiology and haematology. Your studies will include practical-based modules, real-life clinical case studies and a research project. Our student placements range from large multinational firms, government agencies and the NHS to smaller companies engaged in research, analytical services and manufacturing. This might include the NHS, the National Blood Service, the Health Protection Agency, Medical Research Council and Health and Safety Executive, forensic laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry.
