Course summary
Modern organisations rely upon good information systems in order to survive in the global competitive business environment. This degree is for graduates who have an interest in business, information systems and management and want to pursue roles and drive digital transformation in organisations. You will learn contemporary approaches, study aspects of information systems, digital transformations, digital future, and strategic management. This course has been developed in close consultation with industry practitioners. You will learn how to plan, manage, and develop software whilst adopting an academic and rigorous approach which will support you throughout your career. You will learn how to critically evaluate computer systems and applied technologies, providing solutions to system problems based on sound analysis and design. Students completing the programme will have the knowledge, understanding and expertise to enter employment is various roles ranging from IT Consultancy, artificial intelligence, data analyst, business analysis, product owners (agile). It equips students with skills that are in high demand from industry for a career working with software information systems, information technology, building software to a specification to provide IT business solutions and help organisation with their digital transformation strategies and plans. A range of transferable skills including team working, communication, critical thinking, critical analysis, synthesis, presentation and problem-solving will prove vital when it comes to securing employment. The programme provides flexibility for graduates to be employed in a variety of areas in computing, for example, programmer, analyst, data scientist, web developer, IT business analysts, systems analyst, database administration and project management, IT Consultancy, Product Owners (Agile). We have a three-year programme for those who meet the UCAS points. We also have a four-year program which includes a foundation year for those who may not have achieved the required UCAS points.

Assessment method
Assessment is centred on the practical and professional skills required by the industry, and therefore you will be specifically focusing on deriving a solution to a specified problem through researching, analysing and evaluating the issue. This creates a workload which is primarily practical, but will be substantiated through written work such as reports and essays. Group work is also used to promote transferable skills where appropriate.
