Modules
Course structure - year one Gain key knowledge about the business environment, organisational structures and business cultures. You’ll begin to build your marketing toolkit from the start of your degree, learning about the process of marketing, building campaigns and using digital technology. You’ll also hone the data management skills that will support later learning on data analytics and use online simulations to explore various business scenarios. Course structure - year two In the second year you'll start to develop your digital marketing skills and learn more about all aspects of promotional media. You also get the chance to customise your own study journey by choosing modules that support your specific career goals. For example, you could take a deeper dive into digital and social media marketing by studying digital storytelling, influencers and contemporary celebrities in marketing. You can also choose modules that’ll give you the tools to support your career goals, whether these are to become an entrepreneur, work in a start-up or crowdfund to enable you to be your own boss. Year three - Professional Placement Course structure - final year In your final year you’ll focus on sustainable and societal marketing - a major trend in business today – and learn to create a future-ready brand strategy. Your final dissertation and module choices allow you to explore topics and make business connections related to the sector of marketing that you'd most like to work in. You might specialise in digital technologies (AI and VR) or lean more towards developing your mastery of international marketing strategies and how to manage cross-cultural teams. Or a bit of both!
Assessment method
You'll be assessed in ways that test your marketing abilities, business knowledge and management skills in practical and applicable ways. These could include presentations, group work, computer-based simulations, podcasts, exams, essays, videos, business reports and opportunities to work on projects set by real companies. On your return to University for your final year, you'll submit your Placement Portfolio, detailing your development on your placement.
