Course Overview Interested in studying education and how children learn? Want to train to be a teacher in the future and specialise in English? Our degree in English and Education is an ideal route into a range of professional roles. Why study with us

  • You can take work placements in each of your three years of study, in settings such as a nursery, primary or secondary schools, or in further education.
  • We offer a semester-long placement in each year of study. You will gain valuable experience as you are immersed in educational settings to better understand the day to day realities and dynamics of being in a classroom.
  • Our programmes offer you the chance to pursue particular areas of interest and develop specialisms in areas such as inclusion and special needs.
What you'll do
  • Combining English with Education offers routes into teacher training. Also, into non-teaching professional careers or postgraduate research.
  • You can combine your study of Education with English Literature and/or English Language and incorporate modules in creative writing.
  • You'll spend time on placements, working alongside other professionals. This will be highly valued by potential future employers.
Future Careers Studying our BA (Hons) Education and English course open the doors to a career in education, as well as offering routes into a range of other options including journalism, publishing, arts administration, theatre and advertising.
