Develop an excellent grounding for further studies or work with children, young people and families. You focus on important subjects such as safeguarding, child development and parenting alongside interdisciplinary modules and work placements. You graduate with diverse, useful skills that make a real difference. How you learn All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. This course provides high-quality work placements alongside enriching, enjoyable teaching sessions. Modules are designed to introduce the core principals and techniques needed for work with children, young people and families. You spend 400 hours of your course on work-based learning placements, and the rest of your time benefiting from supportive, collaborative lessons and engrossing individual study. You learn through
  • workshop-style sessions from industry practitioners
  • case studies, presentations and assignments
  • placements in a wide range of statutory, voluntary and independent settings
  • one-to-one support from an academic advisor
  • on-placement learning support
  • technology designed to enhance your learning experience
Applied learning Theory will prepare you for practice learning experiences that are designed to help you not only to apply theory to practice but to develop critical and ethical approaches to your practice in order to become life-long, competent professionals. You are required to attend the practice learning experiences provided on the course to achieve the course practice learning outcomes. You’ll undertake a range of practice learning experiences, helping you to build your skills, confidence, creativity, resilience, integrity and curiosity. This will take place in different practice learning environments, reflecting the range of ways in which services are currently delivered. This might include simulated learning and virtual placements alongside real-world experience of services delivered face to face to service users. The university will ensure that the practice learning element of your course will be compliant with the requirements of the Professional and Statutory Regulatory Body (PSRB) governing your chosen profession. This is so that by the end of your course, you will have been provided with the opportunity to demonstrate attainment of the requirements to register as a professional with your chosen profession.

Our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2024/2025 are regulated by the UK government and are yet to be confirmed. For an indication, our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2023/2024 are £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200. Our tuition fees for International/EU students starting full-time study in 2023/24 is £15,860 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,500-£2000.
