Why Sound and Music Production? Our Sound and Music Production degree prepares you to compete across creative industries as you explore commercial and emergent aspects of music and sound technology. You’ll develop skills ranging from studio production and recording, to sound engineering for live events, and sound design and composition for film, games, animation and VR. Your work will apply the very latest business and industry practices. Collaborating with film, TV, animation, games and digital media students, you’ll build a competitive portfolio as a sound and music specialist. You’ll also work with expert lecturers who are active in the industry and be inspired by influential guest speakers. You’ll get creative in our state-of-the-art facilities including recording studios with SSL and Avid S6 consoles, an immersive 22.2 sound lab, a Soho-style dubbing theatre, innovative music production suites, rehearsal and pre-production studios. You’ll also have access to our bookable kit store packed with cutting-edge audio production equipment. Work experience opportunities will help give you a head start in your future career, with the chance of roles at festivals such as Wychwood and 2000Trees or work on award-winning films and client briefs during your studies. Past graduates have gone on to successful careers as composers, sound designers and engineers, radio producers and production music managers, working with the likes of EMI Production Music, ITV, BBC and Universal Music. Modules

In your first year you’ll develop skills in the foundations of recording, engineering, production, sound design, software and hardware systems. You’ll build an industry perspective of emerging markets. In year 2 you’ll specialise in modules including live sound and broadcast systems, music production, sound design and composition for film, TV and games, spatial and immersive sound, audio interaction and coding. Your final year focuses on professional practice and employment. You’ll develop creative specialisms in public-facing projects that bring together your musical, technological and commercial ideas.
