Course summary
Overview The Advanced Professional Practice programme reflects national and international benchmarks for advanced level professional practice for the healthcare workforce, while supporting you to build a personalised qualification around your own advancing professional practice role. In addition to four core modules, you will choose from a wide range of optional modules. This allows you to tailor the programme to the context of your own professional practice, enabling you to achieve optimal professional development. As the programme is aligned to the Health Education England Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England (HEE, 2017), the four pillars of advanced practice (clinical practice, management and leadership, education and research) are embedded in each module in the programme portfolio, particularly in the core modules, to ensure that you explicitly advance all four pillars over the course of the MSc programme. For many students, the completion of specific modules will allow them to seek credentialing of their practice by an external professional body, e.g. Advanced-level Nurse Practitioner [RCN] Model B: Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice (not accredited by RCN) or Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Emergency Medicine [Royal College of Emergency Medicine]. The programme has three academic awards, enabling students to complete the programme with a Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCert), Post-Graduate Diploma (PGDip) or full MSc in Advanced Professional Practice, depending on the number of credits achieved and required core modules completed. About This Course We consider advanced practice to be a level of practice, which can be achieved across a wider range of roles and settings in health and social care. Therefore, this programme is suitable for health and care professionals working in a wide variety of settings and to both national and international applicants living and working in the UK. As the programme requires learners to be assessed in practice and to undertake a service improvement project within their clinical setting, you must have the support of your employing organisation and a commitment by them that they will meet the assessment and governance requirements of the programme during your period of study. Entry requirements
An upper class honours degree (2:2) in a Health and Care subject. Successful applicants will have recent experience of working in a professional role in a health, education or care setting. Students will typically hold a professional registration with a recognised health or care professional body. All applicants who are not a British national and/or whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency. This is equivalent to an IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in all components, although we do accept many other types of qualifications or tests. In accordance with the UK Border Agencies Tier 4 visa guidelines, we will also waive the English language requirement for applicants who meet the defined nationality test or who have completed a degree level course in one of the listed countries.

Additional fee information
If you are a postgraduate student on a part-time course please assume a 50% fee of the equivalent full-time course per year, or a pro-rata fee for the module credit you are taking. Module fees are subject to incremental increases for any subsequent years of study. Please enquire within the faculty admissions office to find out whether a part-time option is available for your course. Progressing part-time students who began on the 2022-3 standard fee of £4450.00 will pay £4450.00 for their second year of study.
